writing songs…
When I write new songs, I always start with a theme and a title. Most of the time, I use ideas and stories from my life as a source of inspiration. I also keep a special book in which I write down ideas and themes or lyrics whenever they come to me. For example, in ‘When I get Lonely’ I imagine myself driving a fast car along an empty desert highway trying to forget my troubles. In ‘Cash’ I am referring to the fact that money is the most important thing on many people’s mind. What a pity! ‘Bleeding Roses’ is a song about what is happening in the world today, for example the destruction of the environment and the way people treat each other.
But it doesn’t always have to be so serious. For example, ‘My One Desire’ and ‘Feel Me Now’ are sensual and a bit sexy and are inspired by my love for women. I don’t like to talk about politics, but nowadays there is politics in everything, and that’s why I wrote the song ‘Hey Mr Brown’. You can feel the passion, love and sadness when you listen to ‘Fly Red Butterfly’ and ‘Crying For Passion’. The instrumental ‘Rusty’ is named after my dog, because he is a true friend to me.
My greatest reward is when people enjoy listening to my music as much as I enjoy making it.
